The buzz around the upcoming historical epic Raja Shivaji continues to build as its release date approaches. Directed, written, produced, and headlined by Riteish Vilasrao Deshmukh, the film is backed by Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company. It traces the life and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, one of India’s most revered warrior kings and the founder of Hindavi Swarajya.
Adding to the anticipation, actor Ajay Devgn has publicly expressed his support for the film and its lead star. Devgn, who portrayed the iconic Maratha warrior in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, paid tribute in a unique way—saluting Deshmukh in character as ‘Tanhaji,’ the trusted lieutenant of Shivaji Maharaj.
Sharing the Hindi version of the film’s anthem “Chhatrapati” on Instagram, Devgn wrote, “Tanhya chya naman, Raje! This looks incredible! Wishing you nothing but glory for #RajaShivaji @riteishd Jai Shivray!”—a message that has resonated strongly with fans of historical cinema.
Meanwhile, the much-anticipated trailer of Raja Shivaji is scheduled for a grand release on April 20, offering audiences their first detailed glimpse into the life of the legendary Maratha ruler.
The film features an impressive ensemble cast from both Hindi and Marathi cinema, including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Boman Irani, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, Amol Gupte, and Genelia Deshmukh.
