Jackie Shroff to Lead India’s First ‘Grandfather Superhero’ Epic: ‘The Great Grand Superhero’ Set for Summer 2026!

The Indian superhero genre is about to get a major “Bhidu” upgrade. In a move that promises to pivot away from the typical caped-crusader tropes, Zee Studios recently unveiled the first look of its highly anticipated film, The Great Grand Superhero: Aliens Ka Aagman. Starring the legendary Jackie Shroff in the titular role, the film marks a historic first for Indian cinema: a superhero story where Hero is a grandfather. Most awaited kids film this summer promises to be a joyride

The film breathes new life into the genre by prioritizing emotional wisdom over physical might, highlighting the “super” patience and resilience unique to the elderly. By tapping into the nostalgic wonder of childhood imagination where we truly believed our elders were capable of anything it shifts the superhero narrative away from dark, gritty alleys and into the heartfelt warmth of an Indian household, creating a unique space for family-centric sci-fi.

Written and directed by National Award-winner Manish Saini, the film explores a narrative deeply rooted in Indian family life. While traditional superhero films often focus on youthful vigilantes or high-tech soldiers, The Great Grand Superhero centers on the whimsical, often unbelievable stories grandparents tell their grandchildren.

The world of school-day innocence where a young boy reveals a high-stakes family secret: his grandfather has superpowers. However, the stakes are more than just playground gossip if the secret is exposed, it could trigger an extraterrestrial invasion, aptly titled “Aliens Ka Aagman”. But the question is whether it’s a fantasy world created by this kid or his grandfather really has superpowers??

Presented by Zee Studios and produced by Amdavad Films, the project features a stellar ensemble cast alongside Shroff including Bhagyashree Dasani, Prateik Babbar, Sharat Saxena, Mihir Godbole & Shivansh Chorge.

Director Manish Saini, known for his ability to handle child-centric narratives with nuance, aims to deliver a “refreshing and heartfelt cinematic experience” that offers laughter and nostalgia for all age groups.

Industry experts suggest that this film could be a game-changer for how India perceives its “super” humans. The Great Grand Superhero: Aliens Ka Aagman is slated for a nationwide theatrical release in Summer 2026.
