A Night to Remember: Kapoor Family Leads the Tribute

Mumbai glittered on December 13, 2024, as the Kapoor family and icons of the Indian film industry gathered at PVR Infinity Mall to celebrate the centenary of the legendary Raj Kapoor. The Kapoor dynasty, including Randhir Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Alia Bhatt, paid heartfelt tributes to the cinematic genius.

Bollywood Royalty Graces the Red Carpet

The event witnessed the presence of luminaries like Rekha, Jeetendra, Prem Chopra, and celebrated filmmakers such as Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Aanand L Rai, Vishal Bhardwaj, and Rajkumar Hirani. Leading stars like Vicky Kaushal, Kartik Aaryan, Tiger Shroff, and many others joined the Kapoor family in honoring the “Greatest Showman of Cinema.”

A Nostalgic Red Carpet Experience

Adding to the evening’s charm, media personnel donned Raj Kapoor-themed attire, while the decor featured vintage film memorabilia. A live Indian Navy band and a retro-themed musical ensemble created a magical atmosphere. Guests were greeted with vintage-style film tickets, standing cutouts of Raj Kapoor’s characters, and photo frames that transported attendees back to the golden era.

Iconic Movie Moments Recreated

Highlights included actors dressed as Raj Kapoor’s iconic “Shree 420” character and a nostalgic nod to “Awara” with a classic hand bell. Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt were seen enjoying Bobby, while Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, and others watched Awara. Meanwhile, Mukesh Chhabra and Aanand L Rai revisited Sangam.

Raj Kapoor 100: Celebrating a Cinematic Legacy

The event marked the launch of Raj Kapoor 100 – Celebrating the Centenary of the Greatest Showman, a festival by R.K. Films, the Film Heritage Foundation, and NFDC. The initiative features screenings of ten of Raj Kapoor’s iconic films across 40 cities and 135 cinemas, with tickets priced at just ₹100 to honor his vision of accessible cinema.
